BOAVISTA It’s the closest island to the African Coast and the less populated of all the archipelago. The territory is carachterized by white sanded beached and dunes, vulcanic stoned planed and green oasis. Boavista is slowly developing and at present, there is limited accommodation on the island of Boavista, therefore it is advisable to book well in advance. The island has been discovered in 1460 and called “Sao Cristofao” and then renamed with the present name when portugues marines shouted from their ship “boa vista!” seeing this beautiful island. Between Cabo Verde and Gambia have recently been discovered an exclusive location loved by mobies which usually come next to Boavista island during certain period of the year. Boavista offers excellent conditions for all watersports including sailing, diving, surfing, fishing, sea canoeing and cycling.       Do not forget to visit the capital Sal-Rei, once called Porto Ingles. In front of this charming town you will see the small island where there is the fortress “Duque de Braganca” built to fight the pirats attacks. Boavista is very famous thanks to its beautiful beaches, you can go around all the island just following the white sand. Another fascinating place in the village Rabilwhere there is the Church “S.Roque”, built in 1801. Here you can also visit the ceramic factory. Among the most charming beaches: Estoril and Chaves, but the most beautiful is without any doubt: Santa Monica.
